Berkhamsted Railway Station is very conveniently situated for the start/finish line and, wherever possible, we strongly encourage runners and supporters to use the train rather than come by car. It's kinder to the environment; you will avoid problems with congestion and can simply walk to and from the station. Click here to access London Midland Timetables

However if you do arrive by road, we recommend you enter Berkhamsted from the A41 by-pass by taking the exit on to the A416 signed to Chesham!   Click here for a map designating the various car parking facilities in Berkhamsted

For the first time this year, we will be operating a free car park at Ashlyns School. This is a 15/20 minute walk from the start/finish lines but the potential benefit is that once runners return to their cars, they should avoid traffic congestion in the town centre.

  •  Ashlyns School is easily reached by cars approaching from either direction of the A41 by-pass (Junction 20 on M25). Leave the by-pass at the Chesham exit and then exit large roundabout in to Chesham Road. Ashlyns School is a few hundred yards on the right hand side opposite Berkhamsted School's playing fields. Look out for the Yellow Arrows and Signs!

  • You can approach Ashlyns School from Berkhamsted Town Centre via Chesham Road. Heavy traffic on the morning may, however, slow you down in the High Street.

  • The Ashlyns car park will take 300 cars and it is on a first come first serve basis. It will be open and manned from 0800 hours and will be free although there will be a bucket collection for those who would like to help offset our costs.

  •  Ashlyns School is a 15/20 minute walk away from the start/finish lines. It is downhill to the start and conversely a bit of a climb on the way back.  We strongly recommend that those who choose to utilise this new parking facility arrive in plenty of time both to park and transfer to the start.

  • For those who prefer to park closer to the start, the available car parks are marked. In past years, the railway station has proved a popular parking spot and will again be free courtesy of London Midland. Car parking charges are expected to apply at all the other car parks highlighted on the map (ie other than Ashlyns School and the railway station) so please come prepared with change.

STOP PRESS: We have just been advised by Dacorum Borough Council that for this day only they will not enforce the 4 hour maximum stay at the Canal Fields car park where charges do not apply. PLEASE NOTE, however, that there is no change of policy on any other Dacorum Borough Council car park in Berkhamsted and marked charges and maximum stay criteria will both apply and be enforced on the day.

Finally, we strongly recommend you arrive in plenty of time.
Those arriving at the last minute are more likely to find it difficult
to park and transfer in time for the race starts.
